Six More Sleeps

Oz and I have been counting down the days till we meet face to face for the first time.  We do this by counting sleeps.  Since he lives on the other side of the planet from me, he is a sleep ahead, I am one behind.

I currently have six more sleeps till I get to see him walk through customs after a 16 hour plane flight to San Francisco.  He’s going to be tired and probably not feeling like he’s exactly at his best.  I will have been up since three that same morning and will be feeling a bit the same after spending six hours at San Francisco International people watching, blogging and waiting for his flight to come in.

It isn’t exactly your typical first date.

Of course, we aren’t exactly your typical two people and ours isn’t a typical whatever-it-is-that we have.

This entire relationship  hasn’t been “typical” from my perspective. Not from how we first struck up a friendship to how it evolved to this meeting in San Francisco. That’s what makes it interesting and so fun. Where I’m usually bored and ready to move on after a couple of digital exchanges that simply hasn’t been the case here, and after four months I’m definitely not bored by any means.  Oz is simply the exception to the rule. That’s what make him so interesting and so fun. 

So, wrinkled, tired and sore, and we both will be feeling this way, I’m not going to care.  I’m just simply going to be very, very glad to finally be able to look him in the eyes and say, “We made it!”
